TB Woods Fire

TB Woods erupted in fire, the third fire of the night for Chambersburg Firemen.  (The first was a home, the second a stable). The whistle at the light plant was blown, and Locomotive 41 was run out on the turntable and the whistle cord tied down.  Greer Flack pulled the cord on Locomotive 44 until it broke. (Ed. Note – the locomotives were generally referred to as engines; however, the word locomotive is used so as not to be confused with fire engines.)  The courthouse bell was also rung, and a call made to the telephone station.  The fire was in the 1st and 2nd floors of the new office and in the NW corner of the large brick machine shop.  It moved into the old office that adjoined the new, and the main building at the pattern end.  The fire was caught soon after that.
