An incendiary (arson) fire was found at the rear of the National House in the stables, spreading to adjoining stables. The Juniors hit the plug at Zullinger Alley (?) and 2nd St. The plug at the Courthouse was used as well. This was the first large fire fought since the installation of the Birkenbine Water Works. The crews managed to limit the fire to about 4 stables. (The first fire after the water works were installed was at George Brandt’s house on East Queen St.)
