At 1047 hours, Engine 1-2, Tower 1, and Assistant Chief 1 responded to the 500 block of Stanley Avenue for a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm activation. Engine 1-2 arrived and began investigating. The crew located an alarm with a low battery. Members replaced the battery and relocated the alarm to provide better protection for the occupants.

While units were responding to the CO alarm, Engine 1-1 was alerted to the 100 block of Mill Road for wires down. A tractor-trailer traveling through the area caught a low-hanging wire, pulling down a utility pole and wires. Engine 1-1 arrived and secured the area before notifying West Penn Power. The crew remained on scene for approximately an hour and a half, directing traffic until fire police arrived to assist. Engine 1-1 then turned the scene over to West Penn Power for repairs.   Photos from Mill Road Incident
