Wolf Avenue Complex Fire

The Wolf Avenue Complex is devastated by fire, resulting in the loss of two buildings and the death of one firefighter.  Chambersburg firefighter Tom Blessing suffered a heart attack while working at the fire and was pronounced dead on arrival at Chambersburg Hospital.  Over 100 firefighters from around the valley assisted with the 6-alarm blaze that Chief Sheppard described as “probably the largest fire Chambersburg’s had except the time it burnt.”
