The first alarm assignment was alerted to the unit block of South Main Street for a reported building fire. Company 1 units arrived and met with the caller, advising someone reported the stairwell was on fire to the rear. Tower 1 crew advanced through the building as Captain 1-4 (Chen) checked the rear of the building. A fire on the third-floor porch was discovered, and Captain 1-4 reported the best access to Command 1 (Asst. Chief Myers). Tower 1 was able to access the fire and quickly knock it down with a pressurized water extinguisher, as Engine 1-1 postioned their line. Engine 1-1 crew wet the area down, and crews checked for any extension into the building, finding none. Squad 41 assisted on scene, checking the building and notifying residents. Crews operated for 30 minutes before clearing the scene.
