Crews handle Liberty Street Kitchen Fire

Shortly after 2200 hrs, Chambersburg Fire units and mutual aid were sent to the 500 block of East Liberty Street for a reported house fire. Within 2 minutes of dispatch, Engine 1-2 arrived, finding smoke coming from the front door. Engine 1-1 arrived and their crew advanced a hoseline off Engine 1-2, into the home, locating a working kitchen fire. Crews quickly were able to bring the fire under control, as the crew from Tower 1 laddered the building and the crew from Squad 41 conducted searches of the home. Remaining units staged for a short time until placed in service by Command 1 (Asst. Chief Myers). Crews continued to open up walls to check for any extension, finding none. Borough Electric, Gas, and Water assisted on scene, as well as the Borough's Building Code Official.
