South 2nd St. Home damaged in Evening Fire

Chambersburg Fire Department crews, along with mutual aid units, were dispatched to the 600 block of South 2nd Street for reports of a house on fire around 1942 hrs. Engine 1-2 arrived first on scene, reporting visible smoke from the rear of the home. The crew immediately initiated an exterior fire attack until Engine 1-1 crew transitioned the operation inside to continue to attack the fire. CFD crews were able to quickly extinguish any remaining fire while mutual aid crews arrived, assisting with opening up for the Engine Companies and conducting searches of the home. Units remained on the scene for approximately an hour to ensure no extension to other parts of the home and Command 1 (Captain Pryor) placed all units in service.
