Engine 1-1 with 6 personnel was alerted as part of the first alarm assignment in Company 7 (Fayetteville), first due for smoke inside a residence in the 500 block of Garman Drive. Communications advised responding units that the homeowner could see smoke in their house but was unable to open the door. Asst. Chief 48 (Franklin Fire Co.) arrived first with smoke from the front door. Asst. Chief 1 arrived next, assuming Command 7. Engine 1-1 laid a supply line and arrived as the first arriving engine. The crew advanced a hoseline into the home, locating a fire in the ceiling of a bathroom, and began to knock it down. Crews from Engine 7-2 and Squad 41 assisted with operations inside. The fire was knocked down quickly and held those units on scene. Chambersburg crfews operated for an hour before clearing the scene.
