Crews handle fire in apartment building

Units from CFD and mutual aid were sent to the 300 block of E. Washington St for a house fire. En route, Communications advised that two callers reported smoke coming from the windows and some type of fire inside. Engine 1-2 arrived on scene with smoke from the building. Crews advanced a hoseline into the building and located the fire quickly extinguishing it. Squad 41 crew conducted a search that was negative. Crews opened up checking for extension and ventilating the dense smoke within. Additional arrived units checked the upper apartment with no extension and moderate smoke condition. Crews operated for over 3 hours before clearing the scene.
