With the snow accumulations rising and starting to turn to sleet, Company 1 units were sent to the 200 block of Wayne Ave for a report of smoke coming from a home. Engine 1-2 arrived with its own hydrant, and crews stretched a hoseline to the front door. Engine 1-1 and Tower 1 arrived, with crews making their way to the interior to investigate. Asst. Chief 1 arrived and established Command 1. Crews investigated for a short time, discovering a furnace malfunction. Crews secured the furnace and made notification to the homeowner. Crews operated for about 30 minutes before clearing.
