Track grinding from Norfolk-Southern kept fire departments in Franklin County busy during the afternoon. The grinding of the rails sparked multiple fires, sending CFD units to Orchard Drive for smoke in the area. Crews arrived and located several small spot fires that were contained and extinguished by Norfolk-Southern crews. While on the scene Engine 1-1 was sent to Grant Street for a brush fire. Engine 1-1 arrived to find a 30 foot area that had been burning. Crews wet the area down before going in service.
