This weekend we “spring forward” for Daylight Saving Time, and the Chambersburg Fire Department would like to remind everyone that it’s also the perfect time to make sure your home is protected.
When you change your clocks, take a few extra minutes to:
- Check your smoke alarms – Test each alarm in your home and replace the batteries if needed.
- Check carbon monoxide detectors – Make sure they are working and have fresh batteries.
- Review your home escape plan – Make sure everyone in the household knows two ways out of every room and where to meet outside.
- Practice with your family – A quick fire drill can help everyone stay calm and know what to do in an emergency.
Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half, and a simple battery change can save lives.
As you adjust your clocks this weekend, take a few minutes to protect what matters most.
Change Your Clocks. Check Your Alarms. Stay Safe.
