Crews handle working house fire with entrapment

CFD units and mutual aid were sent to the 300 block of East King Street shortly after 1000 hrs. During the dispatch, Chief 1 and Asst. Chief 1 arrived with smoke from the attic and an occupant on the second floor needing to be rescued. A ladder was thrown to the second floor, and members of CFD were able to assist them to the ground. Engine 1-1 arrived and stretched a handline to the second floor of the home. Tower 1 arrived and began placing ground ladders to the second floor. The crew from Ambulance 1-7 arrived and stretched a second line to the first floor after Asst. Chief 1 found fire in the walls and ceiling on the first floor. Mutual aid units arrived and assisted on scene. Squad 41(Franklin Fire) conducted searches of all floors, while Engine 13-2(Letterkenny) stretched a third line to assist on the first floor. Working fire dispatch units arrived and staged. During operations, a Mayday occurred but was quickly cleared after they were located and assisted out of the building. Due to the Mayday, a second alarm was dispatched and responded. After the fire was knocked down, crews continued to operate to check for extension. Crews operated for over 2 hours before clearing the scene.
