Shortly after 1 AM, members of B shift were alerted to the 800 block of Progress Road for a fire alarm. Engine 1-2 arrived and met with employees, stating they had a fire in the building and that the sprinkler system had it extinguished. Tower 1 officer requested Engine 1-1 be added. Ambulance 1-7 cleared from a medical call and responded as well. Crews located a smoldering fire in and around a tire shredding machine. Crews extinguished the remaining fire and ventilated the building. Crews operated for an hour and 40 minutes before being placed in service by Command 1 (Acting Capt. Chen).
