Since 2007 Chambersburg Fire Department has sent all new hires to the HACC Career Fire Academy. This academy is taught by a knowledgeable group of instructors from all over the Commonwealth and beyond. New hires gain a lot of knowledge from the academy and better prepare them to be firefighters. This group of new hires, we started with an internal Mini Academy upon their graduation from HACC. This is meant to provide the new hires all the departmental information needed to be more than prepared on their first day on shift. Todays material covered departmental SOG's, policies, and General Orders, as well as meeting with IAFF leadership, administrative materials and the new member rookie book. The end of the day crews covered overview of the departments Utility and UTV. Crews assisting today were Chief Ulrich, Asst. Chief Myers, Captain Randall Pryor, Office Manager Jackie Umberger, and Engine Operators Scott McNew and Jamie Birgfeld.
