A call to the station from a resident at 390 East Queen Street
reporting a gas leak in the house sent CFD out just after 5:00 p.m. Chief, Assistant Chief, Tower, and Engine 1-2 arrived to find a two-story
home with a minor smell of natural gas in the home. Upon investigating, it was found that the tenant left the gas stove on which caused the odor.
CFD cleared the scene in under 20 minutes. Just a reminder to all Borough of Chambersburg residents that the fire department, in cooperation with the Borough Gas Department, offers
free carbon monoxide/gas detectors at the Headquarters Fire Station. If you have any fuel burning appliances or an attached garage, it is required
to have these type of detectors installed.
