Carbon Monoxide found on alarm activation

January 22, 2026

Engine 1-1, Tower 1, and Ambulance 1-8 were alerted to the unit block of Glen Street for a CO alarm activation. En route, Franklin County Communications advised a possible alarm malfunction, occupants requesting the Fire Dept to check it out. Units arrived and began their investigation, finding high readings of carbon monoxide at the front door. Asst. Chief 1 established command while crews further investigated. The crew from Engine 1-1 and Tower 1 located the occupants within the home and assisted them out. Further investigation found over 200 ppm from a malfunctioning furnace. Tower 1 ventilated the home until all readings were back to 0. Crews operated for just under an hour before clearing the scene.
