The Chambersburg Fire Department has partnered with the American Red Cross to provide free smoke alarms to residents of the Borough of Chambersburg in owner-occupied homes. With the partnership, one stipulation for the alarms is that they must be installed by the Chambersburg Fire Department. We will schedule any appointment with you based on the potential dates provided. The need to reschedule may occur depending on emergency calls. You may call 717-263-5872 to inquire about your appointment or to change the date/time. When installing smoke alarms, they will be placed in every sleeping area, as well as one on every floor.
Free Carbon Monoxide Alarms are available to Borough residents, compliments of a partnership between the Fire Department and Borough Gas Department. These alarms can be provided or, if needed, installed by fire department members. Carbon monoxide alarm installations will be scheduled similarly to smoke alarm installations. The number of alarms and placement of those will be provided by the fire department staff to best protect the home.
Free reflective street signs are provided to Borough residents by the fire department. Fire Department staff will make these and provide to you, or if assistance is needed with installation, we can help. Signs can be made either horizontal or vertical and come with 4 predrilled holes for installation. Signs can be made either one-sided or two-sided.
