| Calls to the 911 center started coming in around 3:40 pm to report a building fire at 777 Wayne Avenue,
Washed Up Laundromat. The assignment was quickly filled sending CFD and surrounding units to the scene. Initial reports were that a dryer was on fire within the building and
callers were stating smoke was coming from the front of the building. Engine 1-4 and Chief 1 (Command) arrived to find smoke showing from the front door as well as roof vent.
Engine 1-1's crew and Assistant Chief 1 deployed a line off of Engine 1-4 and found a fire in the dryer with extension to the rear of the dryer into a maintenance area. The
fire was quickly extinguished and command reduced the assignment to Chambersburg Fire Department and Franklin Fire Department units. After some minor overhaul and smoke removal
the scene was turned over to the property owner. All crews cleared in under an hour. |
