| Each year nearly 100 firefighters lose their life in the line of duty. This staggering number truly
affects every department across the nation as this is always on every firefighter's mind each time they respond to a call. In the beginning of each October, the National
Fallen Firefighter's Memorial is held in Emmittsburg, Maryland. This memorial recognizes all who lost their life in the past year. As in the past, the Chambersburg Fire
Department supports the foundation by providing staffing as well as the ladder truck to assist in various portions of the weekend. We hope that one day there will not be a
weekend as there will not be any lives lost in the line of duty. |
