CFD units and mutual aid were sent just before 0830 hrs for a possible building fire in the 500 block of W. Loudon Street. Crews arrived with the updated address of 700 W. Loudon Street with smoke from all four sides of the building. Crews began to make access to the units and extinguish the fire. As crews began to extinguish the fire, the primary hydrant broke and became unusable. Additional units laid to other hydrants and had no water. A tanker task force was requested to bring tankers to the scene for water supply. Due to progression in the fire, a 2nd alarm was requested for additional manpower. Crews quickly found hydrants several blocks away from the scene that could supply the initial engine and crews were able to bring the fire under control. Multiple companies continued to operate and ensure no additional fire and completed the fire investigation. Crews operated for about 3 hours before being placed in service by Command 1 (Asst. Chief Myers).
