Engine 1-2, Ambulance 1-8 and Tower 1 were alerted to the 100 block of E. South St for a fire alarm in a multi-occupancy building. Engine 1-2 arrived with normal conditions from the outside and investigated the alarm panel. Alarm was showing the third floor. Tower 1 arrived and the crew began to investigate the third floor. Crews had an odor in the stairwell on the first floor and after making it to the third floor found moderate smoke condition in the hallway. The room of origin was located and found to be a plastic container melted on a stove. Crews confirmed all occupants were out of the building and the crew from Ambulance 1-8 began to ventilate the building. Crews operated for about 30 minutes before returning.
