Busy day for CFD crews
Members of B Shift were kept busy with their Tuesday shift with multiple calls. Crews handled a variety of calls for service, while handling several inspections and upkeep on our equipment. In addition to these responses, Ambulance 1-8 was kept busy with 14 EMS calls. 0915 hrs - Engine 1-1 and Asst Chief 1 responded to the intersection of Scotland Ave and Ramsey Ave for a vehicle accident. Units arrived to find two autos, off the roadway. Crews evaluated one until the arrival of Wellspan EMS. 1127 hrs - Engine 1-2 handled a medical call on Sheller Ave with Marion EMS. 1159 hrs - Engine 1-1, Tower 1 and Ambulance 1-8 responded to the 100 block of N Main St. for 2 people trapped in an elevator. Crews quickly responded and found the elevator to be stuck on the upper floor. Crews were able to make access and assist the trapped occupants out safely. 1259 hrs - Engine 1-1, Engine 1-2 and Asst Chief 1 responded to the unit block of Lincoln Way West for a brush fire. Units arrived to find a 2 ft by 2 ft area burning, not endangering any buildings. Engine 1-1 deployed the front bumper line and quickly extinguished the fire. Engine 1-2 was placed in service before arrival. 1306 hrs - While cleaning up from the brush fire Engine 1-1 and Asst Chief 1 were sent to the intersection of College Ave and Wilson Ave for a wire down. Crews located the wire in the 900 block of Wilson Ave. Crews found a cable line that had dropped but still connected. Crews were able to secure the line until the Cable Co could respond and crews cleared. 1440 hrs - Engine 1-1 and Asst. Chief 1 responded to the intersection of Park Ave and Wilson Ave for a vehicle accident. Units arrived to find two autos, partially blocking the roadway. Crews assessed all the occupants and provided care until the arrival of Wellspan EMS and Fayetteville EMS. Crews also secured both vehicles and cleared debris. 1500 hrs - Engine 1-2 responded to Cleveland Ave for a medical with Marion EMS 1517 hrs - Engine 1-2 handled a medical alarm on West Washington St 1519 hrs - Engine 1-1, along with Fayetteville EMS, handled a medical call on N. Seventh St. 0222 hrs - Engine 1-1 and Ambulance 1-8 handled a flooding call to the 700 block of Lincoln Way East. Crews found water coming from the ceiling and secured the water.
