Carbon Monoxide in a residence

A call to HQ station prompted a response to Fifth Ave to investigate a Carbon Monoxide detector going off. Tower 1 with 2 responded to investigate and while speaking with the property owner the Carbon Monoxide meter began showing reading of CO. Engine 1-1 was added to the call and both units assisted with investigation. Crews found high reading of CO in the basement of both sides of the residence. Crews were assisted by the Borough Gas Dept. Crews ventilated the building to clear the CO out. Home owners were advised of having someone to evaluate their gas-fed appliances before clearing the scene.

Anytime you have a Smoke Detector of Carbon Monoxide Detector that goes off for unknown reasons, it is always best to have it checked. Early detection and notification to the Fire Dept. saves lives.
