Crews handle handle several calls Wednesday
Members of A Shift were kept busy Wednesday with several calls. Crews handled 7 fire responses along with 11 EMS responses throughout the shift.
Crews started a little before 0900 hrs, being dispatched on the initial assignment to the 7100 block of Little Cove Road for smoke in a house. Tower 1 responded with 3 and was placed in service while en route. Around lunch time Engine 1-2 responded on a medical assist to the 100 block of South Coldbrook Ave. The Engine provided care until Ambulance 1-9 arrived. At 1320 hrs, Engine 1-1 was sent with an Ambulance from Co. 23 for a vehicle accident in the unit block of Lincoln Way West. Engine 1-1 arrived during dispatch and found two autos involved, with a ruptured gas tank to one. Crews began to mitigate the fuel spill while assessing the occupants. Tower 1 was requested to assist with spill control. The Ambulance from 23 was cancelled prior to arrival on scene. Borough Storm Sewer and Water Dept was notified. Borough Water responded and evaluated a fire hydrant that was struck. Crews remained on scene for about an hour until towing cleared the vehicles and the roadway was cleaned up. Shortly after clearing the vehicle accident, Engine 1-1, Ambulance 1-9 and Medic from 23 were sent to the 900 block of Wayne Ave for a pedestrian struck. Asst. Chief 1 arrived, finding one subject in the roadway. Engine 1-1 and Ambulance 1-9 crews arrived and assisted with patient care. Ambulance 1-9 and the Medic from 23 transported to rendezvous with LifeNet 8-1. As units cleared the pedestrian accident, Engine 1-1 responded non-emergency to the 300 block of Lincoln Way West for a public service. Crews assisted with clean up after a non-injury vehicle accident where vehicle struck a deer. Just after 1830 hrs Engine 1-2, Tower 1 and Ambulance 1-9 were sent to the 300 block of South Main Street for a CO activation. Crews arrived and metered the home finding normal conditions. Crews discovered a bad detector and crews replaced it with a new one before clearing. HQ units were out the door again a little after 2000 hrs for a fire alarm. Engine 1-1, Tower 1 and Ambulance 1-9 arrived with normal conditions from the exterior and began to investigate. Crews found a faulty detector and reset the system. |
