A box alarm for a house fire at 309 Cosell Drive was sounded just before 5:00 p.m. While responding, dispatch advised that there was a battery pack
that had exploded and is now on fire. Assistant Chief 49 was the first to arrive and found a single-family residence with a moderate smoke condition
inside. Company 1 arrived (Command 1- Assistant Chief Myers) and found the fire to be out. After removing the battery pack, which was a supplemental
battery supply for a cell phone that was plugged into an outlet to charge, crews checked for extension and ventilated the residence. The alarm was
quickly downgraded by command. Crews remained on scene for around 30 minutes.
