CFD crews were kept busy Wednesday afternoon with multiple responses. Both CFD Engine's were alerted around 1114 hrs to the 400 block of Stanley Ave for a Vehicle Fire. Shortly after going enroute Franklin County 911 reported a paper shredding truck was on fire. Engine 1-4, Chief 1 and Asst Chief 1 arrived and found a large box truck with smoke coming from it. Engine 1-4 Driver stretched the bumper line to supply the on board suppression system on the truck. Ambulance 1-8 assisted with another hoseline being advanced. Crews found fire in the hopper area and the collection bin of the truck. Due to its location, crews operated for 45 minutes to extinguish the fire in the hopper. While crews were operating on the Vehicle Fire, Franklin County 911 sent Tower 1 and mutual aide to Wilson College for Smoke in a Building. Tower 1 arrived, finding normal conditions with Security reporting smoke in one room on the 3rd floor. Tower 1 investigated, finding a malfunctioning appliance. Chie 1 held the assignment to Tower 1 and Engine 13-2 until building was turned back over to Wilson College.
