Storms bring several calls for CFD
Chambersburg Firefighters were kept busy Monday afternoon with several calls when thunderstorms came through the County. Tower 1 with 6 firefighters responded as part of the 2nd Alarm assignment to 7879 Oellig Road in Peters Township for a Barn Fire. Tower 1 arrived and the crew was sent to assist with protection one of the remaining barns. The crew from Tower 1 operated for an hour and a half before being released from Command 9. As Tower 1 cleared the Fire, Communications advised to copy another call. Tower 1 was sent to 301 West Main St in the Borough of Waynesboro to assist with a Building Collapse. The Waynesboro area suffered major damage from the storms and had damage to buildings and property in the area. Tower 1 arrived and assisted with conducting assessments of two buildings and providing the Building Inspector with an aerial view. During this time frame Engine 1-4 and Ambulance 1-7 handled a 3 Vehicle Accident in the area of 340 South Second Street. Engine 1-4 arrive to find two autos and an RV. Ambulance 1-7 handled a transport to the hospital and Engine 1-4 remained on scene assisting CPD. Throughout the day, both on duty Ambulances handled an additional 13 calls.
