Auto Fire with Explosions
Engine Company 1 was alerted to the area of 54 W Queen St. for a reported auto fire. Enroute, Communications advised of several calls reporting a working fire and several loud explosions. Engine 1-1 arrived confirming dispatch with Capt. 1-2 (Ebersole) establishing Command 1. Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and began overhaul operations. Tower 1 was alerted to assist due to some extension into the residence and ventilation. Several oxygen cylinders were in the vehicle at the time of the incident, which exploded, sending parts of the vehicle thrown across the street and exploding cylinders striking the nearby residence. Company 1 operated for over an hour before returning to service. Company 1 was assisted by CPD, PMCA and Penn State Health EMS on scene. |
