Crews investigate smoke odor

CFD units and mutual aid were sent to the 800 block of Broad St for a report of smoke in an apartment building. During dispatch, Engine 1-1, Tower 1 and Asst. Chief 1 arrived, finding an old school under construction with normal conditions from the outside. Crews from Engine 1-1, Tower 1 and Squad 41( Franklin Fire Co) investigated a haze and odor on the second floor. After checking through the entire building, crews located a light ballast to be the source. Crews disconnected power to the lights and turned the scene back over to the contractors. Crews operated for about 30 minutes before being placed in service by Command 1 (Asst. Chief Myers).
