At 11:03 a.m., CFD was alerted to 1559 Edgar Avenue for an odor of smoke in an apartment building. While crews
were responding, dispatch notified them that the caller smelled smoke in the building as well as heard an alarm
going off in the downstairs apartment. Engine 1-1 arrived, stretched a hand line to the front door, and investigated
the odor. After a quick investigation, Assistant Chief 1 found a moderate smoke condition in Apartment 1S and eventually
found burnt food that was left unattended. The situation was quickly mitigated, and crews remained on the scene for around twenty
minutes clearing the smoke out of the apartment.
