CFD handles vehicle accident with electrical hazard
Engine 1-1 was alerted around 1537 hrs to the 1900 block of Ashley Dr for a fuel spill. En route, Communications updated to report it was a non-injury accident with a gasoline spill and resting against an electrical box. Tower 1 and Ambulance 1-8 were added to the call while other units were still en route. Asst. Chief 1 arrived, finding a passenger car resting on top of a ground transformer, with some type of fluid spill noticed. A perimeter was established and crews began to assess the spill. It was found to be oil from the transformers and crews utilized stay-dry to contain the spill. Crews staged until the arrival of Borough Electric to confirm the power was secured to the transformer. Crews remained on scene until the vehicle was removed and the Electric Dept began making repairs. Ambulance 1-8 transported a patient to a local hospital. CFD crews operated for an hour and a half.
