CFD responds to several calls on Christmas Day

CFD crews working Christmas day were kept busy with several calls. Crews were sent at 1238 hrs to the unit block of South Main Street for flooding. Crews arrived to find water flowing out from the front of a store front. Crews located a leaking water heater on the second floor to be the cause. Crews secured the water to it, as well as secured power to the areas affected by the water. Crews operated for just under an hour before clearing.

Crews were back out at 1502 hrs to the intersection of Queen Street and Second Street for a vehicle accident. Engine 1-1 and Ambulance 1-8 arrived, finding one person trapped in one of the vehicles. Engine 1-2 and Tower 1 were started while on scene crews stabilized and began to extricate the patient. Crews were able to quickly gain access and begin treatment of the patient. Crews operated for about 30 minutes before clearing the scene.

HQ station units responded at 0248 hrs. to the 300 block of Bedington Blvd for a fire alarm. First arriving units found the sprinkler systems water gong activated and began to investigate. Crew could not locate any issues inside the building and instructed the occupants on steps to get the system corrected.

Ambulance 1-8 also handled an additional 15 EMS calls during Christmas, keeping crew busy throughout the day.
