| 28 new portable radios were placed in service today by the department. These radios will replace our aging fleet of radios that were 15 years old and no longer able to be repaired. These radios provide many added safety features for our firefighters that will make them easier to use and ensure their function no matter the conditions they may be in. Increased performance testing and more rugged devices are just a few of the things that are part of these new radios. The Chambersburg Fire Department could not have made this purchase without the support from our Borough Council and Borough administrative staff that worked with Fire Dept administration to procure the fund to purchase these radios.
