Richard “Dick” Gibbons, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services Director, presented a Clinical Save Commendation from the Emergency Health Services Federation to CFD Firefighter/EMTs Tracy Barnhart, Benjamin Myers, Micah Owens, Randall Pryor, Bryan Shatzer, and Holy Spirit Paramedic Randy Zeger.
On April 24, 2015, the crews were alerted and arrived on scene to find a patient in full respiratory arrest. All personnel worked diligently performing high performance CPR, providing ventilation and defibrillation as needed, while assisting the ALS provider with his protocols. The patient regained spontaneous pulses and respirations before arriving at the Chambersburg Hospital. Several weeks after the incident, the patient was discharged from the hospital with no permanent deficits related to this incident.
Many thanks to the patient’s 16 year-old granddaughter who initiated CPR prior to the arrival of the first responders.
