At 2:30 a.m., "C" shift was alerted for a possible townhome fire at 1001 Byers Avenue. Assistant Chief 49 arrived shortly after dispatch advising an end unit on
fire and requested the working fire dispatch. CFD and Assistant Chief 1 (Command) arrived within minutes to find a well advancing fire to the rear of the structure
that involved an active, natural gas line. The fire extended inside the structure with fire found on all floors. Due to the rapidly changing conditions and the concern
of extension into other homes, the second alarm was requested. The fire was marked under control shortly after 3:00 a.m. Units remained on scene for around four hours. |
