Around 3 a.m., CFD and surrounding units were dispatched for a fire alarm that was upgraded to smoke inside
the building at 399 Bedington Blvd, Comfort Inn and Suites. Several calls were made to the dispatch center reporting smoke conditions in the hallway and pool area of the first floor.
Engine 1-1 and Squad 41 arrived to find the building evacuated and smoke conditions as reported. After further investigation, it was found that a belt on an HVAC air handler had burned
up in the unit causing the condition. Command (Chief 1) held Company 1 and placed the rest of the units in service. Crews remained on scene for around 45 minutes while ventilation was completed. |
