CFD crews assist with HazMat leak



Just shortly after 0930 hrs Ambulance 1-8 was alerted to assist on a HazMat leak in the 800 block of Development Ave. (Franklin Station 4 1 Due). Initial units arrived with a yellow chemical cloud in the sky and began to set up their operations for entry. Ambulance 1-8 arrived and were assigned to assist with monitoring the HazMat teams. Ambulance 1-7 was later dispatched to assist at the scene with transporting patients from the scene. As EMS units from across the County were preparing transport to the hospital, Engine 1-1 and Tower 1 were requested to assist at Chambersburg Hospital with decon. Units arrived at the hospital and assisted with directing EMS units into the decon area and assisting hospital staff. Squad 19 (Raven Rock) was also requested to assist with air monitoring. Chief 1 and Asst. Chief 1 both assisted hospital leadership at their command post while crews operated on scene. Units cleared from the hospital after operating for 2 1/2 hrs. Both CFD EMS units around 1600 hrs. Thanks to MMPW EMS and McConnellsburg EMS for transferring units to Chambersburg while units were committed in assisting with this very complex incident.
