Engine 1-1 and Tower 1 handled a fuel leak in the 1000 block of Lincoln Way East. Crews arrived to find an SUV in the parking lot of AutoZone with gasoline leaking from it. The SUV, that was traveling down Interstate 81, struck a piece of metal that punctured the fuel tank. CFD crews placed absorbent pads and material to contain the leaking gasoline. Crews were able to raise the one side of the vehicle to stop the leak and were able to safely apply material to keep the leak from continuing. Crews turned the scene off to State Police, as they were handling several incidents of damaged vehicles from the piece of metal. Crews operated for over an hour before clearing.
